I want to loose some weight around 40 pounds in which I gained when I starting taking paxil over 2 years now...Paxil works so I don't want to stop taking it for my panic attacks, plus I'm more social now..I recently starting swimming because I begin to have knee prooblms. Do you know if this will help to loose weight. I swim about 4 times a week (started the 1st of February)

The best way to a '6-pack' is aerobics. Increase your aerobic exercise. If you are currently doing a high dose of aerobics, change up your routine to challenge your body. For example, if you are now jogging, add sprint intervals into your jogging routines. To do this, during you jog, pick a time and run as fast as you can for maybe 50 or 60 yards. Resume your jog when you complete the sprint - your body will recup, and you normal breathing pattern will resume after you jog a little ways. Do this throughout your jogging routine. I promise you, this will work wonders on losing that last layer of fat. You may even notice your waistline going down slightly even after the next day.
My point is your body is a wonderfully powerful machine, and it will get use to what you regularly throw at it. Change up your routine, and challenge your body. You will notice wonderful changes. Hope this helps

Hello! I am in need of advise from anyone that can help! I had foot surgery a week ago today and I am not able to put any weight on my foot which prevents me to do any cardio for at least 7 more weeks! I know that I am able to continue with the weight training but is there anything else I am able to do? I am afraid I will gain the weight I have tried so hard to lose and keep off! Thanks!

I need to know, how does anyone eat 1200-1400 calories and feel satisfied? I feel like I'm starving!! Can anyone can give me the secret to feeling full?

You don't need pills to get moving. I too felt the same way you do at one time. I did not feel like I had the energy to exercise. What I needed to get energy was exercise. I swear it is true. It is kind of like what came first the chicken or the egg....energy or exercise. I fortunately have a friend that is a certified aerobic instructor. She has become my mentor. I lost over 20lbs last year working out with her. Unfortunately I did not keep going (lost my motivator) and have gained some back. I am getting started again and our schedules are coming back on track with one another. Get one of your friends to help you or help each other. She/he does not need to be an exercise guru just someone who will commit to you and you to them. Just get up and start small and you will be surprised how addictive it becomes. Get away from the PC and MOVE! GO FOR IT!

I have a work out partner that every time we work out I have to show her things that we have done a hundred times. Please Help!

I tryed different energy pills to give me a boost. I want to exercise and I don't have the energy I need a plan to help me get a "jump start". I'm not lazy I just feel tried all the time. Please help me.

THROW AWAY YOUR SCALE!!!! If you lost 2 inches in 2 months you are doing a great job. What you weigh doesnt matter, just how your clothes are fitting and what that measuring tape says is what really matters. You are losing fat and gaining muscle.

Go to Walmart and get the Tae-Bo tapes, they will tone you and you will lose weight fast. Start today.

Yes ! It's happened to me not being able to budge the scale . Losing 2 inches though indicates you probably gained some muscle and muscle weighs more than fat, so that might be the reason you haven't lost yet . Also depending on you (BMI) being not so heavy maybe, would make a differnce .Sometimes it just takes a little longer so just be patient and don't give up . I would recomend a whole half hour of cardio 5 days a week plus resistense training 3 days a week . Doing more as you feel it getting easier . I exercise doing cardio (TaeBo),spot training, swimming, and biking plus walking . alternating differnt things on different days as not to get to bored with it all . Do what is fun for you ! A total of about 1 1/2 a day for me . So Good luck to you !

Is anyone out there 'stuck' at their starting weight? I have been exercising a mix a cardio and weight training 30 min/day, 5 days per week for two months. I eat about 1200-1500 calories a day. But I haven't lost any weight!!! I've only lost 2 inches. Does anyone have any suggestions, other than fad diets and drugs?

Great library of videos from cardio to stretching Cathy Smith her videos are great, excellent variety of moves and alot of fun!! I have about 8 of her videos which I got at HMV for $10-15. I also use a stationary bike and glider. I've lost 25 pounds so far by alternating cardio 20m/dy 3-4 times/wk and then weight resistance training every other day for upper/lower body. The Firm videos are great too. They offer cardio/wieght training.

Something that I've been doing lately is separating my workout by body parts. I start each session with a 5 minte stretch and 10 minutes of all-over cardio. On Monday I do abs and arms at home with a mixture of cardio and weight training for 30 minutes. On Tuesday I do abs and legs, on Wednesday I do arms and legs, and on Thursday I do 30 of cardio, which varies from walking to dancing in front of a mirror. Hand and ankle weights have helped me alot and I've seen a big difference since I started. All of this can be done at home or in the neighborhood. Try it it works great and its not as overwhelming as working everything at the same time.

Two years ago I was a college cheerleader and I had to maintain a weight of about 100 lbs. I am 5'2''. Since then I have gained about 25 lbs. I have sizes 2-8 in my closet! I know that I am not over weight, but I would like to loose weight and fit into my old clothes again. I am also going on vacation in June. I use an elliptical trainer 6 times a week for 30 minutes a session. I want to add weight lifting to my exercise routine, but I am afraid that I will bulk up too much. I was a gymnast, so I think that my muscles already are noticable even though I know I am not strong. Any suggestions?

I have gained about 40lbs. in the past 2 years after having hernia surgery one year and then foot surgery. I am currently awaiting surgery for my back and am unable to exercise. I have been eating healthy for the past 3weeks. I'm eating low fat and calories and have lost 5lbs. What is the deal with protien/carb thing? Should I keep carbs higher than protien even though I am not exercising? What about calories? My free diet suggest about 1300 per day, but this is with exercise. Any suggestions?

Help I have knee problems! I've been walking and I'm getting a bit bored. Does anyone know where to get those walking CD's or cassettes that have music that has the walk beat in them? Does anyone know leg execises that are easy on the knees? Lunges and swats are too stressing on my knees but I desperately need to tone my legs and get rid of those jello thighs!!!

I really want to get rid of the excess fat on stomach, buttocks and thighs. All in all I would like to lose about 20- 25 lbs. They should be gone until middle of April. I really don't have the time to cook special meals just for me (I am an Au pair who lives with a family so it isn't possible for me to get all the ingredients and cook my own meals).Do you know any videos with a workout that REALLY works? Or can you give me any tips? What about all thos supplements? Do they work??? Thank you in advance for your help!!!

Hi,I also live in Wisconsin, Jami and know what your talking about walking in the cold . I still try to some times .I'd like to recomend the taebo tapes by Billy Blanks . I'm an avid exerciser now for many years with weight training, swimming, walking, and biking . I can honestly tell you that when I started the taebo tapes about 2 yr. ago I saw more definition in my legs, butt and stomach than with all the other things I was doing. The thing is you have to do it at least 4 times a week . It's very good cardio so it will help lose the weight . The dumbells, will give you muscle and you will burn more calories even at resting time . So between the two that would be a good start . Good Luck !

Go online and find the Joyce Vedral site. I think it is www.joycevedral.com Anyway, she has some great videos that teach you how to tone your muscle and they work fast! The bottoms up video series are very effective and you will love the results. Plus you can do them inside. I definitely got in great shape but they are hard and you have to stick with them.

Jami, my advise to you is get a treadmill so you won't have to go outdoors. I find it's easier for me to exercise in the comforts of my home. I get up early in the morning and do 30 to 35 minutes on the treadmill, but I have it on an incline which does wonders for your butt! If you are not able to jog then walk until you are able to walk/run. I alternate, every other day I use a stair stepper for 20 minutes and do 15 minutes of floor exercises such as: crunches, leg raises, side situps, (do as many as you can at first and slowly increase as you can). Also, a good exercise for your butt is squats. For my arms I have been doing push-ups (on my toes, not knees). They will be hard at first, but you can increase in your own time. I lift weights, curls especially, that helps build muscles in my arms. Be patient, it won't happen over night. I'm 49 years old and have been exercising religiously for several years and am in better shape now than when I was in my twenties. Also remember, when you start to build muscle you may slow down losing weight, because muscle does weigh more that fat. But, the good side is that you will lose inches and still look better than before, so don't expect to lose fast when you're building muscle. Believe me muscle looks better than fat no matter how much you weigh. Good Luck!

JAMI, THE BEST THING I CAN TELL YOU IS TO CHECK OUT MUSCLE AND FITNESS 'HERS'WHICH WILL GIVE YOU TONS OF FREEWEIGHT TRAINING TIPS. ALSO, I WOULD INVEST IN A BAR, AND A BENCH...TO ME IT WORKS BETTER THAN DUMBELLS BECAUSE IT IS EASIER TO WATCH YOUR FORM.

I am desperate for help! I need to lose about 20 lbs-of fat in a very short amount of time (about 2 months). I KNOW that isn't the ideal healthy way to lose weight (a pound a week they say) but I would really like to lose this weight for a vacation I will be taking. I also want to tone (arms, abs, butt, etc..). I just started my diet from MyFreeDiet (1300 cal per day) and it is working well for me. The catch is I do not have access to a gym so my workout must be an at home workout. I do have dumbbells to use and a VCR for videos. I'm in Wisconsin so we have snow right now. I do not object to running or walking in the snow though it is not possible every day. Can anyone give me some good "quick" tips on toning and losing weight. Thanks in advance for your input.
